It was announced that one of the leading online retailers of licened NASCARD and character jackets, shirts, and other merchandise would be changing their name after pressure from NASCAR attorneys and licenses. “NASCAR contacting us came as a complete surprise,” said company president Brian Palosi, “since we found many other websites were using “NASCAR” in their domain name.”

NASCARJacketsPlus.com started up in early 2007, the company grew by leaps and bounds offering a hude selection of both licensed NASCAR and character jackets at prices most retailers could not compete with. However, their success led to their visibility and late in 2007 NASCARD told the company that due to issues raised by other licensees, the website would have to change its domain name. Realizing taking on a licensing giant like NASCAR made little to no sense, the company began soliciting input from hundreds of fans, customers, and “friends of the company” a new domain name was selected; www.SpeedwayJacketsPlus.com.

“We wanted a new name that was similar to where we started,” said Palosi, “to make it easy for everyone to find us. We had over 234,000 visitors to our site in just our first year of operation and we owed it to them to make locating our store simple.”

These are not the only changes - Palosi explains:

“We want to be the undisputed leader in the licensed jacket sector. We have invested heavily in providing a customer interface that rivals the premier retail websites for ease-of-use and we plan to have new 24X7 customer self-service capability launched later this year. But providing world-class customer service is mostly about people, and we’re doing all we can to ensure that every customer interaction is as helpful and courteous as possible.” In spite of the unplanned name change, “the future looks very bright, indeed.”
